Over time we hope to reach some of the thousands of Oregonians who live in urban forests or wildland-urban interface areas - audiences that historically have been hard to reach - and others who are connected to or curious about forests and their management. I encourage you to "like" the page or participate in the conversation. NOTE: You may have already "liked" a Facebook page that has our department name, followed by the words "company" or "interest." These are automatically generated in the Facebook system, and are not our official agency page. You can reach the new official ODF Facebook page and our other social media sites through our main external web site, www.oregon.gov/odf (click on Social Media under ODF Resources and Services - familiar Facebook and other icons coming soon.) Our social media efforts will continue to evolve and grow over time. Please don't hesitate to contact Jeri Chase in our Public Affairs Program with questions or suggestions. Jeri is at jchase at odf.state.or.us or 503.945.7201. As you may know, this memorial, in a quiet, wooded spot, bears the names of men and women who passed away during or following their time with the agency, dating back to the 1943. Details of the ceremony have yet to be determined, but I wanted to extend the invitation as soon as possible to our employees and friends. At this point, Kevin's wife, Stacey, and perhaps other family and friends, are planning to attend. ODF and the forestry community were well represented this past weekend at the celebration of Kevin's life at his church in McMinnville. Doug Decker, Board of Forestry member Gary Springer, and about a dozen employees were on hand. Several of our partner and stakeholder groups also had a presence. An engine from the North Cascade District was parked near the church entrance. I'd like to remind you as well about the fund through which the ODF family can assist the Weeks family with immediate and long-term needs, including the education of Kevin and Stacey's teen-age daughter, Jessica. Checks can be made out to the Weeks Forestry Family Fund (you'll need to use those words exactly) and deposited at any U.S. Bank branch or mailed to Mary Schmelz, here at 2600 State St., Salem, OR 97310. The fund will remain open through April 30. We in the Public Affairs Program appreciate your sympathy and kind words, and we hope to see you on June 18.
