Hello everyone, 

I wanted to send a big shoutout to Reforma Oregon folks for making the Mock Pura Belpré Awards such a success last Saturday. It was so delightful to share time with librarians talking about what makes good stories for the kids we’re serving! (You can see the list of nominees here<https://www.reformaoregonchapter.org/meetings-events/oregon-mock-pura-belpr>.) And what a gift before that to hear Duncan Tonatiuh<https://duncantonatiuh.com/> share about his art process and story-making. I learned so much about Mesoamerican art traditions and digital collage. Thanks also to Happy Valley Library staff for being great hosts and sharing their new building with us! 

Thanks for all the work you do making sure your shelves include stories that offer ways for kids to see themselves and their cultural experiences reflected, and for kids to see ways of being that are outside their own personal experiences. It’s pretty important, and we appreciate you all over here!
