RE:  Medicaid Consent Reminder

Directors: This is critical information for you only if you bill Medicaid.

This is just a reminder about getting parental consent for Medicaid. I was in a meeting earlier this week and was told that apparently there is still some thought that schools need to get parental consent every time Medicaid is tapped and not just on an annual basis. Because there are a number of new directors since this letter of clarification (attached) was issued by OSEP,  I am sending it again. I was told that in some places there has been pressure from state/regional Medicaid offices to get parental consent more frequently. I would remind you that this is an IDEA requirement and not a Medicaid regulation.
