Last month I let you know about two important developments in the field related to services for transition aged students. The two issues were: 1. The use of sheltered workshop or sheltered workshop like placements for school aged students; and 2. Implementation of the requirement to offer 990 hours of instruction for students with disabilities who have not attained a regular high school diploma. The Office of Student Learning and Partnerships is working with partner agencies and advocacy organizations regarding these issues. In order to effectively represent the state of the field, we are asking for your input regarding these practices. We would like to obtain this information in an anonymous survey (link below) so we can get the most accurate information possible. Since we won't be able to follow up with individual districts, we are counting on you! Please reply with ALL of your transition aged students who are enrolled in any program FOR WHOM your district is responsible for FAPE. We are not sending this survey to any other agencies, ESDs, or private institutions. The surveys need to be returned by Wednesday, October 24th. Please contact Sally Simich sally.simich at state.or.us with questions regarding the content of the survey or Mariana Turnbull mariana.turnbull at state.or.us regarding technical difficulties with the survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TXHV2JD Thank you!
