From Ruby.Sandberg at ode.state.or.us Wed Dec 3 07:43:24 2014 From: Ruby.Sandberg at ode.state.or.us (SANDBERG Ruby) Date: Wed, 03 Dec 2014 15:43:24 -0000 Subject: [SE-Dir] RTI Applications Available for Middle School Level Message-ID: The message below is being sent to you on behalf of: Sarah Drinkwater, Ph.D. Assistant Superintendent Office of Learning/Student Services ______________________________________________ December 3, 2014 Oregon Response to Intervention -APPLICATIONS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL (6-8) ARE NOW AVAILABLE for 2014-2015!!!! APPLICATION DEADLINE DECEMBER 19, 2014 AT 5:00 PM The Oregon Department of Education is pleased to announce that middle school level applications are now available on the ODE website at http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=315 The Oregon Response to Intervention project has supported districts across the state with the implementation of Multi-tiered Systems of Support in literacy that is evidenced-based and has a proven history of support. The project is in its 10th year and has provided training and technical assistance to build district capacity for the adoption and implementation of RTI systems in literacy to over 65 districts in Oregon. Each of these school districts has taught us the importance of a common framework for successful RTI implementation. Additionally, we have learned that applying the framework to the unique needs of each district is a necessary component of successful implementation. These districts have also experienced the full breadth of the RTI model that allows for educational decision making across the full range of student needs in both general and special education. OrRTI is now funded, in part, by the legislature to advance the following educational goals of this state as written in House Bill 3232: ? Close the achievement gap that exists between historically underserved student groups, as defined by the board by rule ? Assist public education in all regions of this state ? Develop and disseminate evidence-based models and best practices that are likely to improve student outcomes; Collect data to monitor student progress; and ? Establish networks that allow for the replication of successful practices across this state. Tigard-Tualatin School District, who has been ODE's partner over the past nine years in this endeavor, was recently selected through an RFP process to continue to provide training and technical assistance to Oregon school Districts! This year up to five school districts that have implemented RTI at the elementary level will be selected to participate in the first middle school level cohort! The technical assistance and support will include culturally responsive practices and fidelity to the process.
