to the recent change in the high school assessment accountability year from 10<sup>th</sup>
grade to 11<sup>th</sup> grade (see memo #011-2009-10 dated 3/3/10 <a
href="http://www.ode.state.or.us/news/announcements/announcement.aspx?=5568"><span
style='color:windowtext'>http://www.ode.state.or.us/news/announcements/announcement.aspx?=5568</span></a>),
all students must now take their high school statewide assessment by 11<sup>th</sup>
grade or their 3<sup>rd</sup> year in High School. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Similar
to the requirement for students taking the general education assessment,
students who took and <u>met or exceeded</u> the alternate achievement standard
on the statewide Extended Assessment in 10<sup>th</sup> grade (last year) will
not need to retake the Extended Assessment this year. However, any students who
<u>did not meet</u> the alternate achievement assessment standard in 10<sup>th</sup>
grade will need to take the assessment again this year in their 11<sup>th</sup>
grade year (2010-2011) in order to be counted as participants for state
accountability purposes. For students with IEPs, any decision to retest (or to
consider retesting) will require revisiting the student’s IEP to ensure the IEP
team’s decision has been adequately recorded. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>

note that this policy applies only to this year given the change in the year of
accountability. In subsequent years, eligible High School students will
