<div><b>RE: Parent Involvement Survey</b></div>
<div><font face="Calibri"> </font></div>
<div>As part of the State Performance Plan (SPP), Oregon Department of Education (ODE) with support from ICF International conducts an annual parent survey to measure how well districts and ESD’s reach out to parents of children with disabilities and engage
them in the education of their children. ODE uses the National Center for Special Education Accountability Monitoring (NCSEAM) Family Survey. Each district and county is surveyed once during the six-year sampling cycle, and survey results are incorporated
into the district’s <a href="http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=1831"><font color="blue"><u>Special Education Report Card.</u></font></a> In small districts, all families are surveyed; in large districts random sampling is used (Beaverton only for
the current 2013-2014 survey).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The survey results report the percent of parents who say that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities. The survey includes questions on the district’s efforts to partner with parents,
the quality of special education services, and the impact of special education services on family and parent participation in the special education process.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The attached revisable sample letter was developed by ODE. We encourage you to share this letter with parents at annual IEP meetings or include the letter during the distribution of the Special Education Report Card. Please revise the letter to include
your district or ESD particulars, information on local parent involvement activities and volunteer opportunities. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>We have attached a sample revisable flyer that you could send home to your families or post in your buildings. </div>
