<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Many of you had questions regarding the Graduation/Dropout Reporting for this last school year, and were surprised to find that the data pulled comes from the National Center
for Education Statistics (NCES) Dropout Collection, not the SPED Leaver reports. Because this collection is often done by someone in the district outside of the SPED “world”, districts found some kids on IEPs were miscoded and identified as dropouts when
really they were in a district transition program, or had left with a modified or extended diploma. Unfortunately, this is the collection where graduation and dropout data comes from each year.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">This is to inform you that the
<a href="http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=1827http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=1827">
NCES Dropout Rate</a> validation opens October 30<sup>th</sup>, and the <a href="http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=2644">
Cohort Graduation Rate</a> validations will open November 6<sup>th</sup>. Both validations close on December 12<sup>th</sup>. The Exit Adjustment Window will be open October 16<sup>th</sup> through December 1<sup>st</sup>.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
