[Self-sufficiencypartners] Summer EBT Community Partner Update: August Social Media Toolkit and Key Messages

Hello Partners,



Families have just over two weeks left to apply for 2024 Summer EBT benefits. The application deadline is Sept. 2, 2024.



Thank you to each community partner who has helped us up to this point to reach as many families as possible across Oregon. Since June 28, Summer EBT benefits have been issued to 333,500 children, which totals over $40 million dollars in additional grocery benefits for Oregon families this summer. WOW!



While the window of opportunity is still open to reach families who may be eligible for this benefit, I wanted to draw your attention to our new August 2024 Social Media Toolkit<https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/providers-partners/self-sufficiency/Documents/sebt-social-media-toolkit-en.pptx> which includes sample social media posts with key messages to help remind families to apply by Sept. 2. This toolkit is available for download in 10 languages on the Resources for Partners<https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/providers-partners/self-sufficiency/Pages/sebt.aspx> page of the Summer EBT website, under the heading titled, “Tools for Partners”. Here you’ll find many more Summer EBT partner resources including partner newsletters, Summer EBT FAQ’s, customizable Summer EBT flyers and more!



One common question I’ve heard from families over the past few weeks while outreaching across the state is, “The summer is almost over and I’m not sure if I’ve already received the Summer EBT benefit or if I need to still apply to receive it. What should I do?”.



As you are engaging with families who may have similar questions, below are talking points that might help to guide those conversations:



  *   Contact the Summer EBT Call Center at 833-673-7328 to find out if your child is eligible, if you’ve received the Summer EBT benefit already or if you need to apply. The Summer EBT call center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Monday through Friday, Pacific Time, until Nov. 29 to answer questions.



  *   Families can apply online<https://online.oresebt.com/ApplicationRegistration/Index> in English and Spanish through Sept. 2. Paper applications<https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/food/Pages/sebt.aspx> are also available for download in 10 languages. Please allow up to 30 days for Summer EBT applications to be processed.



  *   If your household already has an Oregon EBT account, the benefits will be added to your existing card upon approval. For eligible children who do not already have an Oregon EBT account, a card will be mailed to the latest address on file.



  *   If you have recently moved, you can update your mailing address by calling the Summer EBT Call Center, emailing the Summer EBT team at SummerEBTinfo at odhs.oregon.gov<mailto:SummerEBTinfo at odhs.oregon.gov>, or by logging into your Summer EBT account here<https://online.oresebt.com/Login/Login> to update your address directly.



  *   Once a family is issued Summer EBT benefits, they have 122 days to use them before they expire.
