This is producing a generally southwesterly flow aloft over the region. This morning, however, a strong upper level disturbance is moving southwest to northeast in the broad scale flow producing shifting winds aloft and producing some precipitation. The precip will mostly be snow although lower elevations should see rain or freezing rain before the air mass warms. Mixing heights will be generally in the 3-4000 foot range in central Oregon, but lower (2-3000 feet) in the NE mountains. Transport winds will be generally from the south to southwest. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>2. For units that will smolder significantly through the night avoid burning within at least 30 miles to the SSE through WSW in or near drainages leading to SSRAs. Recommend against burning units that will smolder significantly overnight. Delay ignitions until 10:00am. Avoid ignitions within 20 miles to the S through WSW of SSRAs. For units that will smolder significantly through the night avoid burning within at least 35 miles to the ESE through WSW in or near drainages leading to SSRAs. Recommend against burning units that will smolder significantly overnight.
