<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Oregon will remain
on the north/cold side of a strong jet stream, as an impressive upper-level
trough gets carved out over the Pacific Northwest. The strong westerly jet
stream will get depressed southward, to over central California, with an unseasonably
cool, moist, and unstable air mass over Oregon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Showers are likely
with a chance of afternoon thundershowers.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>Precipitation totals will vary considerably but should generally range
from about one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>Maximum temperatures will be 15-20 degrees below normal with the snow
level lifting slightly, to around 5000 feet, in the afternoon.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Cool air aloft will maintain good daytime
mixing with westerly transport winds veering to the northwest in the afternoon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New";mso-fareast-font-family:
"Times New Roman"'>OUTLOOK (SUNDAY-TUESDAY)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Showers will taper
off on Sunday, especially west, as the upper-level trough weakens and drifts
southeastward, to over Nevada.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Some
showers will likely circulate into the eastern areas, while a weak and
transitory upper-level ridge introduces a drier, northerly, flow into the
western zones.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The freezing level will
rise to 6-7000 feet, but surface temperatures will be about 15 degrees below
normal.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Look for good smoke dispersal
conditions with brisk northerly transport winds.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>On Monday, another upper-level
trough is forecast to travel southeastward, from the Gulf of Alaska, and set up
camp about 300 miles off the southern Oregon coast.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>It will slowly drift closer to the coast on
Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The jet stream energy will be
focused mainly over southern Oregon and northern California, with an
impressively strong southwesterly jet stream extending from northern California
through northeastern Oregon by Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>Skies will remain mostly cloudy with a chance of showers both days.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Temperatures will recover close to normal by
Tuesday, as the freezing level climbs to 7-8000 feet.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Smoke dispersal should be good, both
afternoons, with transport winds switching around to mostly southerly.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
