<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Oregon will remain
on the north/cold side of a strong jet stream, as an impressive upper-level
trough gets carved out over the Pacific Northwest. The strong westerly jet
stream will get depressed southward, to over central California, with an
unseasonably cool, moist, and unstable air mass over Oregon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Skies will be mostly
cloudy with showers and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Precipitation totals will vary considerably
but should average around one-tenth of an inch. High temperatures will be 15-20
degrees below normal, with the snow level dropping to the basin floor under
heavier or prolonged showers.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Even with
cool surface temperatures, cold air aloft will promote fair to good daytime
mixing with northwesterly transport winds.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New";mso-fareast-font-family:
"Times New Roman"'>OUTLOOK (SUNDAY-TUESDAY)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Things should dry
out on Sunday, as the upper-level trough weakens and drifts southeastward, to
over Nevada.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>A weak and transitory
upper-level ridge will turn the flow aloft more northerly, with skies becoming
partly sunny.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The snow level will rise
to 5500 feet, but high temperatures will still be 10-15 degrees below normal.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Smoke dispersal should be fair to good with
northwesterly transport winds.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>On Monday, another
upper-level trough is forecast to travel southeastward, from the Gulf of
Alaska, and set up camp about 300 miles off the southern Oregon coast.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>It will slowly drift closer to the coast on
Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The jet stream energy will be
focused mainly over southern Oregon and northern California, with an
impressively strong southwesterly jet stream extending from northern California
through northeastern Oregon by Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>Increasing southerly flow aloft will bring back a chance of showers,
especially on Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>However, the snow
level will rise to 6-7000 feet, and temperatures will recover to with 10
degrees of normal. Smoke dispersal should be good with mostly southwesterly
transport winds.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
