<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Oregon will remain
on the north/cold side of a strong jet stream, as an impressive upper-level
trough gets carved out over the Pacific Northwest. The strong westerly jet
stream will get depressed southward, to over central California, with an unseasonably
cool, moist, and unstable air mass over Oregon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Skies will remain
mostly cloudy, with any sun-breaks only adding fuel to daytime showers.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>There is also a chance of thunderstorms with
small hail.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Precipitation totals will
vary considerably but should generally range from about one-tenth to
one-quarter of an inch.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>High
temperatures will remain 10-15 degrees below normal with the snow level at just
3-4000 feet.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Cold air aloft will
maintain fair to good daytime mixing with light west-southwest transport winds
veering to northwesterly during the afternoon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New";mso-fareast-font-family:
"Times New Roman"'>OUTLOOK (SUNDAY-TUESDAY)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Courier New"'>Showers will taper
off considerably on Sunday, as the upper-level trough weakens and drifts
southeastward, to over Nevada.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>A weak and
transitory upper-level ridge will bring partial clearing and allow afternoon
temperatures to climb within about 10 degrees of normal.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>There will still be widely scattered showers,
mainly over higher terrain, with the snow level climbing to 5-6000 feet
late.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Subsidence, associated with the
weak upper-level ridge, will combine with warming aloft to suppress mixing
heights.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>Smoke dispersal conditions
should only be fair with light onshore transport winds.</span><span

upper-level trough is forecast to travel southeastward, from the Gulf of
Alaska, and set up camp about 300 miles off the southern Oregon coast.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>It will slowly drift closer to the coast on
Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The jet stream energy will be
focused mainly over southern Oregon and northern California, with an
impressively strong southwesterly jet stream extending from northern California
through northeastern Oregon by Tuesday.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>Showers are likely both days.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>
</span>Maximum temperatures will be 5-10 degrees below normal.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>The snow level will drop back to 5000 feet.
Cooling aloft will improve smoke dispersal conditions with light onshore
