2026 Pacific Northwest Regional Economic Conference in Portland!
PNREC 2026 will be held in beautiful Portland, Oregon on May 19-21, 2026. Please join us for keynote addresses on tariffs, the U.S. and Canada economic outlook, and more.
We also invite you to submit an abstract or presentation proposal to share your research during our conference breakout sessions.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Christopher Sands to PNREC to continue our focus on Canada-U.S. economic relations. His talk will focus on overcoming the turbulence from Washington D.C. and strengthening regional linkages in the Pacific Northwest.

Chris is the Director of the Center for Canadian Studies at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C.

Amidst all the interesting federal policies being proposed and implemented in the past year, the Yale Budget Lab published timely detailed analyses on their economic impacts. So we're excited to have John Ricco as a keynote speaker in May.

John is the Associate Director of Policy Analysis at the Yale Budget Lab. An expert in both public policy and data science, he develops microsimulation models used to evaluate the fiscal and distributional effects of federal policy proposals.

Dr. Newport is executive director of US Economics at S&P Global Market Intelligence. He manages long-term forecasts for and co-manages the macroeconomic model.
Previously, he worked as a research economist for the Washington State Department of Revenue, where he later served as a senior economist for the Office of the Forecast Council of Washington State.
