Good morning SORA community,

ODE recently published a feature layer on ArcGIS that maps all known shelter locations across the state. The layer includes houseless shelters, youth shelters, day shelters, transitional housing facilities, domestic violence shelters who publicize their addresses*, and safe sleep/park sites. Shelter locations are plotted on the feature layer; when you click on a point, information for that shelter including contact, population served, and other relevant info is displayed. The goal of this project was to create a map of shelters organized by school districts in order to help districts better serve students and families navigating housing instability, but it also has a range of other potential applications and benefits.

The layer is available for public use on ArcGIS online at the following link: https://geo.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=8ba163d740e64f80a49629f8f2b396bf

We are sharing this information across agencies so that folks can utilize this layer to create maps that suit any needs of various agencies in supporting people navigating housing instability. The feature layer will be updated periodically. Our hope is that others will find this feature layer helpful in supporting Oregon's ongoing housing and shelter initiatives.

If you have questions about the feature layer, please contact Richard Bargielski at richard.bargielski at ode.oregon.gov

*In order to protect residents, some domestic violence shelters requested that their location information not be published.
