[State_HelpDesks] Search Engine Maintenance for 2/28/2009

Hello,

   EDS will be performing maintenance to the Oregon.gov search engine to
fix an issue that is affecting the current version of the search engine.
This maintenance will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2009, between
12:01am and 3:00am. This is outside of our regularly scheduled
maintenance on Monday from Midnight to 3:00am. During this time, the
search engine will be unavailable. This patch will remedy the problem
with the document filters concerning the indexing of PDF documents as
identified by Autonomy, the creators of the search engine.

   On Monday, 23 Feb, EDS upgraded the search engine from version 5.4 to
version 5.8. Among some of the benefits in this upgrade: Query
performance has been improved, Ultraseek now supports PDF 1.6 (Acrobat
7) documents, the filter for binary document types has been upgraded,
adding Macromedia Flash (.swf) and Microsoft Access (.mdb) files to the
list of supported file types and other program issues and security
vulnerabilities fixed.
