The Oregon Association for the Talented and Gifted Annual Conference will be Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Reed College in Portland.   The brochure is attached above.  The conference details from the Conference Co-Chair are outlined below.

O A T A G  CONFERENCE DETAILS

The annual conference of the Oregon Association for Talented and Gifted will take place at Reed College in Portland on October 9th., 2010. Registration begins at 8:00. Reed College and Oregon Mensa are co-sponsoring the conference.

The conference theme and the title of the keynote session will be "Is Giftedness Really a Gift?"

The keynote speaker is Dr. Janet Davidson, Associate Professor of Psychology at Lewis & Clark College, who researches problem solving and giftedness across the lifespan. Dr. Davidson received a Mensa Education and Research Foundation Award for Excellence in 1988 and was chosen Professor of the Year at Lewis and Clark in 1997. With co-editor, Robert J. Sternberg she has edited four books, Conceptions of Giftedness (1986), The Psychology of Problem Solving (2003), The Nature of Insight (1995), and a second edition of Conceptions of Giftedness (2005).

The conference will also include breakout sessions, vendors and exhibitors, special tours at Reed, and even a movie night!

Admission starts at just $49 for members and includes meals and refreshments. Early registration closes on September. 17th.

Register early--SPACE IS VERY LIMITED. REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ONCE THE CONFERENCE IS FULL.

Mensa will once again be providing a special gathering place for children and youth ages 8-17 during the conference. The $25 registration for children covers their meals.

Professional Development Units (PDUs) and credits are available to educators through the University of Oregon.
