Young readers all over the state are forming reading battalions! They are armed with 16 great books and their weapon is knowledge. The Oregon Battle of the Books is a statewide reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries. Students, regardless of ability, are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints. The goals of the program are to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, and promote academic excellence. The program pairs reading with the spirit of sports competition which encourages reading among students of all levels. The OBOB registration deadline for participating schools is November 15th. All registration information can be found on the OBOB wiki along with 2012-2013 title lists for grade level divisions 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12, a handbook of rules & procedures, and other related resources. To see if schools in your district/area have already registered for OBOB, a participant spreadsheet can be found on the front page of the wiki . Schools not fully registered by November 15 will be unable to participate in the regional tournaments in spring 2013. -- Mary McClintock Library Media Consultant OBOB Executive Committee 541-680-0998 cell 541-839-4905 home -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
