*Next Week!*
*Utilizing Health Information Technology
to Enhance Coordination of Care Within
and Between Clinic Practices*
* Thursday June 27, 2013*
10am Hawaii | 12pm Alaska | 1pm Pacific | 2pm Mountain
3pm Central | 4pm Eastern
*Greetings!*
You are invited to attend the next NRTRC Open Mic Webinar, part of our
ongoing education series for folks who are interested in Telehealth.
*About this program*:
Please join Jac Davies as she provides an overview of the BCIN program, how
it supports coordination of care, and how the lessons learned can be
applied in other settings. Take-Aways;
- Improving coordination of care within a practice requires a number of
changes including revised workflows, modified staff roles, and the
implementation of tools that enhance communication and information sharing.
- All members of a clinic’s staff, from the front-desk to the medical
assistant and the physician, need to be involved in and support efforts to
improve coordination of care.
- Existing electronic medical record systems are often inadequate at
supporting care coordination and must be augmented by other tools that
enable electronic information sharing and population management.
*Presented by: Jac Jonas Davies, MS, MPH*
Jac Davies is Director of the Beacon Community for the Inland Northwest
(BCIN), a collaboration of Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS). The
BCIN is a federally funded program intended to improve health outcomes
across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho through care coordination
supported by the innovative and collaborative use of health information
technology. Prior to assuming that position in May, 2010, Ms. Davies was
Director of Northwest TeleHealth, Regional Outreach and health at work for
INHS, and was responsible for managing a large regional telemedicine
network, providing continuing education and support for rural health care
providers and promoting employee wellness. Before joining INHS, Ms. Davies
worked at the Washington State Department of Health, where she served as
Assistant Secretary for the Division of Epidemiology, Health Statistics,
and Public Health Laboratories. In that role Ms. Davies was responsible for
all operations of these three major program areas and also led agency
efforts to plan for and respond to public health emergencies and to
implement health information technology and exchange in support of public
health programs. She has an MS and an MPH from the University of
Washington, and a BS from the Mississippi University for Women.
