Subject: [Libs-Or] ALA/Google Grant: Libraries Build Business (Webinar 11/25 & App Due 12/11)

[cid:image004.jpg at 01D5A366.1195A870]Hi,

If your public or tribal library supports entrepreneurship with small businesses, you may be interested in this grant opportunity from ALA and Google.

This information is from ALA (http://www.ala.org/advocacy/workforce/grant):

The American Library Association (ALA), with the support of Google.org, is launching an initiative to identify and scale successful entrepreneurship programs in public libraries across the US and create learning resources for any library to support entrepreneurs in its community.

This initiative will identify successful, library-led models to deliver entrepreneurship training and resources, help them scale with a focus on underrepresented and low-income entrepreneurs, and create a playbook and peer-to-peer learning network available to all libraries so these successful models can be replicated across the country.

The Opportunity
ALA is accepting grant proposals from public libraries with a documented history of providing services for small business and/or entrepreneurs for low-income and/or underrepresented groups in their communities. ALA anticipates individual awards to range from $50,000 to $150,000.

An application that demonstrates interest and eligibility is due December 11, 2019. From those submissions, up to 35 libraries will be invited to complete a full application by February 14, 2020.

ALA is hosting an informational webinar today, November 25, at noon Pacific / 3 pm Eastern (https://ala-events.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJAudeyprj4rAIYxXwEbL1cLZg7M5hBdSQ). (I learned about this late last Friday.)
