Internal Revenue Service has announced that the private<BR>vehicle mileage
reimbursement rate will be 55.0 cents per mile,<BR>effective January
1, 2009. The State of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State
w:st="on">Oregon</st1:State></st1:place> follows the mileage </SPAN></DIV>
<DIV class=MsoNormal><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"></SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">reimbursement rate set by the
General Services Administration (GSA)</SPAN><o:p></o:p></DIV>
<DIV class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">for
federal agencies. The GSA is prohibited by law from
exceeding</SPAN><o:p></o:p></DIV>
<DIV class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">the IRS
rate and will also lower <SPAN class=078592521-10122008>its </SPAN>rate on
January 1, 2009.<BR><BR>Therefore, OAM 40.10.00.PO Appendix A will be amended to
state<BR>"Effective 1/1/09, vehicle mileage is 55.0 cents per
mile. The State mileage<BR>rate mirrors the GSA federal rate and
changes automatically when the federal<BR>rate changes." Thus, for
travel that occurs on or after January 1,<BR>2009, the reimbursement rate
for private vehicle mileage will be 55.0<BR>cents per
mile. <BR><BR>This change affects all
employees. HRSD Labor Relations has</SPAN><o:p></o:p></DIV>

the affected employees' union representatives (AEE, IAFF,

and SEIU) about the rate change and effective date.

receives any objections, the affected agencies will receive
