I’d like to agree with Staci, everything she said is true for us in Oregon as well. We ask for so many surveys and for us the public library survey required by the IMLS is also happening in July, it’s a beast.
In our case, many of the people doing the IMLS survey are also running summer reading programs and they are surveyed out, so I’d really like to make sure we ask them for data that will be utilized strategically and transparently. Our state hasn’t always been
good about this and we are trying to be more transparent and clear about how we’re using the data we collect.

Can the statistics committee clarify what it means by “membership and product value”? From the description, it sounds like this is a survey for CSLP. In that case, can CSLP host the survey?

membership structure and costs. If LSTA funds go away, or if individual libraries casually flip from CSLP to iRead simply based on theme or cost,
it behooves us to better examine the direct and indirect benefits of membership to groups and individuals. These issues also related to the Board’s request for a more formal examination of how the manual
is used and valued, which is a task yet-to-be taken on by this committee. Our committee is currently considering if it is time to develop, or redevelop, a formal “how do you use CSLP” survey?
