[Health_Education_Promotion] Sexuality & Disability Event 5/19 - Free CHES credits!

The Disability Section along with the Health Education and Promotion Section of Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) is sponsoring a free presentation and discussion titled “Open Heart, Mind, Soul, and I am Whole: Conversations about Sexuality and Dis/ability.”  What: A presentation and discussion including key topics that underpin disability and sexuality and its applicability within community based settings.
 Dana Owens and Neera Malhotra will be the co-presenters. 
 
Dana Owens is a health educator for the Companion Program, and has a Bachelors degree in Public Health from Oregon State University. He developed a course titled Meaningful Relationships & Sexuality, which is taught to adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the tri-county area. Dana has severe Cerebral Palsy and hearing loss, and is a great advocate for individuals with disabilities. 
 
Neera Malhotra is a doctoral candidate at Portland State University. She holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership (endorsement in sexuality studies) and Masters in Special Education. Prior to being part of the doctoral program, Neera worked as an Instructor at the Department of Education, Lady Irvin College, Delhi University, India and as a trainer & writer with Sense International India. Her research and scholarly interests include social foundations of dis/abilities (disability studies), gender, race, and sexuality studies, sexuality education, and theater in education.
 
Date: Tuesday, May 19th Cost: FREE Time: 12:00pm-3:00pm·     Lunch will be provided at 12:00pm. The first 50 people registered will receive a free lunch. After 50 people are registered the cost of lunch will be $10 per person. 
·     Presentation begins at 12:30pm.

*This presentation and discussion is open to all members of the community  and has also been approved for 2 Free Category 1 CHES Credits.
