An Infopeople online course, December 5, 2017 - January 8, 2018

Do you want to create a sensory storytime but you're not sure where to begin? Would you like to know more about how sensory storytimes differ from (and are the same as) other storytimes? Do you want to develop a step-by-step plan for sensory storytimes that is customized to the needs and resources in your library and community?

This four-week online course will help you better understand sensory storytimes and how to plan and deliver an effective sensory storytime program in your library and community.

During this course, you will learn to:

* Find resources to support your program
* Plan a sensory storytime session or a whole series of sessions
* Evaluate a sensory storytime program
* Provide targeted outreach and promotion

Weeding for Your Library's Health<https://infopeople.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=730>

An Infopeople online course, December 5 - January 8, 2018

Although not glamorous, weeding is a necessary aspect of keeping the library collection both healthy and responsive to current and future community needs. Unfortunately, because of uncertainties about how to begin, weeding is often misunderstood and almost as often neglected. Suitable for library staff at every level, this 4-week course is designed to move you beyond uncertainty about how to get started and keep you motivated to continue weeding by providing you with:

* The basic tenets of a sound weeding plan
* A clear understanding of the connections between collection development and collection weeding
* Practical assistance in identifying weeding decisions related to print, multimedia, and online library collections
* How to communicate appropriately and effectively about weeding with those in and beyond the library

Please note there is a one-week break from Dec 19 to 25 for the holidays.

Instructor: Francisca Goldsmith<https://infopeople.org/people/francisca-goldsmith>

Fee: $150 for those in the California library community and $200 for all others.

Developmentally Appropriate Programming for Youth<https://infopeople.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=732>

An Infopeople 4-week online course, January 9 - February 5, 2018

Would you like to learn about new resources for designing and evaluating your library programs for youth? Developmentally appropriate programming identifies the program spaces, formats, content, and staffing models that equip libraries to offer high-impact programs designed precisely for the developmental levels of their intended audiences. The result is programming that best supports social/emotional development and achievement of developmental milestones.

At the end of this 4-week online course learners will:

* Be able to apply concepts of universal design and connected learning to existing programs.
* Evaluate existing programs for developmental appropriateness and adapt program components to effectively reach multiple ages.
* Have access to a rubric for developmentally appropriate programming as well as a suite of go-to resources for developing and evaluating high-quality, age-appropriate programs for their young library users.

Instructors: Amy Holcomb<https://infopeople.org/people/amy-holcomb> and Amy Koester<https://infopeople.org/people/amy-koester>

Fee: $150 for those in the California library community, $200 for all others.
