Hi friends,

Here at Unpacking, we've been doing a lot of reflecting on our project and
goals. We found our live session at OLA 2024 to be very successful and were
invigorated by the results. We have also consistently found that the
virtual discussion format isn't ideal for a majority of folks who want to
engage with this content. With that, we're excited to announce some updates
for our future.

   - *We're taking a break. *We're spending the rest of 2024 and *potentially
*all of 2025 to research, workshop, and plan.
   - *We're coming back.* Our goal is to come back as a podcast, hence the
extended break. We need time to restructure and learn some new skills.
We're optimistic that a podcast will be successful because it allows folks
to opt-in to this work in the time and space that is most supportive for
them. It also creates venues to invite other voices intentionally into this
   space.
   - *If you would like to join the Unpacking team, now is a great
time. *Please
reach out, ideally by the end of the calendar year, if you are interested
in helping us grow and evolve.

Thank you all so much for your support, interest, and engagement. We'll be
back with more information in the coming months!

Very-very best,

*The Unpacking Team*

*Unpacking <https://unpackingdiscussion.weebly.com/>*is a discussion-based
forum created to provide a space in which white and white-identifying
individuals can examine the realities of their white privilege. Through
conversation, we explore how to actively dismantle systems which oppress
Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and from which all white and
white-identifying individuals benefit. *Unpacking* is designed for the
communal education of white and white-identifying individuals, but welcomes
all people who would like to contribute to or engage in this work.
Additionally, though *Unpacking *is rooted in conversations about race, we
welcome a broad range of topics which can help libraries and museums to
become more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible.
