[kids-lib] Friday, Sept 6th Shoutout

Hello everyone,

Whew, it's Friday! I hope you are beating the heat wherever you may be this afternoon. I'm really looking forward to next week's cooling off over here. I loved seeing how West Slope captured their community participation<https://www.facebook.com/wccls/posts/pfbid0jcjgcyZEfM7xTwJFBZx76e9jLCNdghsCcQq8c19q1xQ1coyX4FMSrtpBCwgvothxl> in Summer Reading - what a lot of great work not just by library staff but readers too! I also enjoyed how Mt. Angel celebrated their teen intern's contributions<https://www.facebook.com/MountAngelPublicLibrary/posts/pfbid02AJ3UnfqJCHXtB1VciB7HomHGfSUiN8RQbcYun5CpuJoLmvTmPEcg2QKBDojiV9Lvl> to Summer Reading - it takes many hands to do all the work you all do every summer and we are grateful for all of them!

And we know work isn't over - there's been a lot of news about banned books this week, and I noticed Fern Ridge is having a party this month<https://www.facebook.com/FernRidgeLibrary/posts/pfbid0ndFiLqd6CRt1oyhV6X5kCom2cPj7iPhoVqe1JnpKJDaE6UsPjYxKMyrUo648iyUAl>, a response I can certainly appreciate! I also noticed Pendleton is really leaning into that Roundup identity and bringing STEM learning to kids<https://www.facebook.com/pendletonpubliclibrary/posts/pfbid0jdcJp8KEQnGYFPDxE94oWWKeLio3rhSnZQDMcUmuDTEdfU3vMiwcFgMdvwmEPsNHl> at the same time - Thanks for all your creativity and work as kids go back to school and needs change from summer to fall. Transition times can be tricky but also really lovely. I hope the next few weeks bring more of that lovely part into your library spaces and work.
