Improved Photograph Search Part of New Online Catalog

[Catalog]On March 20th, the Government Information and Library Services division of the Oregon State Library went live with a new online library catalog powered by SirsiDynix. The new catalog offers improved access to the library's comprehensive collection of Oregon government documents, extensive collection of Oregon heritage books, periodicals, maps, etc., and resources for state employees. The new catalog also offers easier online access to larger, digitized photographs from the library's collections. Photographs may be discovered searching all the collections simultaneously or be searched as a unique collection.

[MagBoys]Currently there are nearly 20,000 prints, negatives, and slides in the State Library's collections, more than 8,000 of which have been digitized. The collection contains images covering a wide range of Oregon-related subjects, including images compiled by the WPA Oregon Writers' Project and photographs of the Oregon legislature, state officials, and state buildings. Most photographs are dated before 1950. The photos are available to anyone for personal use. For use in publications or web sites, please include proper attribution. For more information on use of photographs see the Photograph Collection<https://ccrls.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/oslenterprise/?rm=PHOTOS0|||1|||3|||true> webpage.

Change is Coming to Oregon's LSTA Program

Normally, LSTA grant proposals would be winging their way to the State Library, but Oregon's LSTA program is changing process and timeline. The process is moving from a two proposal to one proposal process. Proposals will be due next April, 2016. This applies to competitive and ongoing statewide grants. Grants will start July 1, 2016 and run twelve months. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Reed<mailto:ann.reed at state.or.us> at 503-378-5027.
