Hmmph. All we find in law books are lawyer bills.

Last December while weeding I found a couple chapter books with a$1 bill in them with a note that said something to the effect of "It's your lucky day. Here's a book buck. Keep reading." About 2 months later I found out that it was an advent calendar thing that a 4th grader did. He put 5 of them in books in our children's section. It was pretty exciting all around. Both the finding and the finding out.

Laura,
If we find small amounts of money that is not claimed, I’ve put it in our Friends of the Library’s donation box. Larger amounts, or money found outside of our library is handed over to the police with information about the location as it could be stolen or the spot could be used as a drop for drug deals etc.

Here's a fun little scenario for you all...

Today I opened up a book from the shelf to find $24. The book circulated last in August 2014. Do we contact that patron, or assume that anyone could have looked at the book in the meantime and put the money in?

If you've seen this before (or just have a suggestion), please let me know what you did/would do!

Thanks,

Laura
