Your Pacific Northwest Regional office for the National Network of Libraries
of Medicine (NN/LM PNR <http://nnlm.gov/pnr> ) is offering free training on
PubMed. This fall, "PubMed for Trainers" will be offered in three online
sessions and one in-person session in Seattle at the University of
Washington Health Sciences Library.

If you are not a health sciences librarian you may wonder what is PubMed and
why would non-health sciences librarians be interested in training? PubMed
<http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/> is produced by the National Library
of Medicine and is primarily known for its free Medline database of indexed
citations to medical and science journal articles. According to a 2013 Pew
Internet report <http://www.pewinternet.org/2013/01/15/health-online-2013/>
59% of U.S. adults have looked online for health information in the past
year. Many who have chronic conditions are often are looking beyond
consumer health websites. Offering a service for more advanced health
searching may be what your savvy consumer health searcher is looking for.

Learn how to use the features of PubMed and teach them to others. To learn
more about this training check out the NN/LM PNR blog:

In addition the NN/LM Pacific NW Region is offering professional development
awards to our Network members (membership is free!)
<http://nnlm.gov/pnr/services/network_memberform.html> of up to $1500 to
pay for travel costs. Contact Pat Devine, devine at uw.edu
<mailto:devine at uw.edu> or 206-543-8275, if you have any questions about
membership or the class.
