[Libs-Or] Library Pay Phones

[Adrienne Doman Calkins]

In Sherwood, we have a free phone for local calls only in the shared Library / City Hall lobby. There is a sign asking patrons to limit use to 5 minutes and staff do intervene on occasion. For the most part, there are no issues and it's mostly youth who use it.

Subject: [Libs-Or] Library Pay Phones

We have been notified that the pay phone in our lobby is going to be removed by the carrier. They are getting out of the pay phone business. Previously we have directed most people to this phone in order not to tie up our phone lines. What do other libraries do? Does anyone NOT provide a phone option for patrons? How do you monitor/limit time?
