Two library rock stars from Washington County have written articles about
efforts to improve their library’s user experience with the latest design
theories and testing techniques. Crystal Trice cleverly explains how WCCLS
updated their website and extranet with surveys, click tests, card sorts,
and the abundant opinions of local librarians. Please download and read,
“Want to Make your Website better? Ask a Librarian.”

Stephanie Chase describes how Hillsboro Public Library employed design
thinking to “develop a new collaborative and patron-focused service model.”
Using research and a “design thinking day” to brainstorm with a variety of
staff, volunteers, and a reputable design facilitator, they managed to
implement several innovative changes that will benefit their patrons for
years to come. To learn more, please download and read, “Design Thinking
in Action: Changing the Public Service Model.”
