Hello from the Pacific Northwest Library Association,

One of the great things PNLA does as an organization is help create
opportunities to build leadership skills for librarians in the Pacific
Northwest.

If you are interested in building your own leadership skills, the 2017 PNLA
Leadership Institute (PNLA LEADS) is now accepting applications. This is a
5 day intensive retreat that helps librarians discover and to build their
leadership skills. The institute will be held Sunday October 22nd
(noon) through Friday October 27th in Port Townsend, WA. Applications are
due by May 30th http://www.pnla.org/leadership-institute

Another good opportunity to build your library leadership skills is by
serving on the PNLA Board. This is a great way to learn new skills, follow
your library passions, and become involved. We are currently accepting
nominations for these positions:

 *Vice President / President Elect*

   - Serves a one-year term and takes office at the end of the 2017
   conference
   - Assumes the office of President the following year
   - Investigates annual conference location two years in advance of
Provincial/State host rotation. Facilitates president's signing of
   contract.

*Treasurer *

   - Serves a two-year term, taking office at the 2017 annual conference
   - Duties include preparing the annual budget and all financial reports,
reconciling bank statements, completing W-9 forms, archiving financial
files, working as Treasurer for conference each year

*Secretary*

   - Serves a two-year term, taking office at the 2017 annual conference
   - Duties include taking and posting meeting minutes, collecting and
compiling annual reports from Committee Chairs and state and provincial
representatives for distribution to the membership at the annual meeting
   - Updating the PNLA Board Handbook

The deadline for nominations is May 12, 2017. Nominees must be members in
good standing of PNLA. Contact: Gwendolyn Haley ghaley at scld.org if you are
interested or have questions about becoming a PNLA officer.

Finally, if you want to support library leadership development in the
Pacific Northwest -- consider donating to the PNLA LEADS - "Pay it forward"

If you have questions, suggestions, or ideas about PNLA or library
leadership -- please let me know.
