Hi,

I thought some of you might be interested in this information.

There will be a Consumer Health Information Symposium in May, and public library staff may qualify for free registration and a travel stipend. The quoted information is from the January 2018 PLA E-News:

"PLA is partnering with the Medical Library Association (MLA) and the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) to provide learning and networking opportunities for public library workers in the area of consumer health information. The three organizations are teaming up to present a Symposium on Health Information for Public Librarians<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT03Mjg2OTgyJnA9MSZ1PTEwMTg3ODQzMTcmbGk9NTEwNzE3MTE/index.html>, taking place May 21-22 at the MLA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Atlanta, Ga. The Symposium will provide a unique opportunity for public and health sciences librarians to work collaboratively on consumer health information programming.

U.S.-based public library workers with responsibility or interest in consumer health information and health literacy may qualify to receive free registration for this one-and-a-half-day symposium. Stipends<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT03Mjg2OTgyJnA9MSZ1PTEwMTg3ODQzMTcmbGk9NTEwNzE3MTM/index.html> of up to $500 to cover travel and lodging expenses, provided by NNLM, are also available."

Also, here's a reminder about DigitalLearn.org. This information is from the site's About page:

"The Public Library Association<http://www.ala.org/pla/>'s site, DigitalLearn.org, is an Institute of Museum and Library Services<http://www.imls.gov/> grant-funded project to create an online hub for digital literacy support and training... Included in DigitalLearn.org is a collection of self-directed tutorials for end-users to increase their digital literacy, and a community of practice for digital literacy trainers to share resources, tools and best practices..."
