This job posting is for two openings.



*Duties:*



*FOR BOTH POSITIONS:*

   - Staff the Circulation Desk, implement all library policies and
   procedures, secure all monies at beginning and at the end of shifts, and
   provide service to all patrons of the library. Resolve non-routine problems
   and issues with staff and/or patrons ensuring all Library policies and
   procedures are implemented in a timely fashion. Coordinate the work of up
   to 15 student employees. Follow all opening and closing procedures when
   scheduled, and participate in cash counting operations.
   - Coordinate circulation operations of the library during assigned desk
   shifts by ensuring that all library patrons receive prompt, courteous
   service.
   - Become cross-trained in basic details of other Access Services
   functions, including Reserves, Summit, ILL, Stacks, and Library Tours. Will
   be trained to perform specific backup functions in one or more of these
   areas.
   - Participate in ongoing training programs and attend departmental
   meetings.
   - Assist in the training of Student Employees



*FOR THE FIRST POSITION ONLY:*

   - Complete circulation departmental tasks such as updating records,
   serving as point person in Access Services for processing and pulling local
   holds, creating tutorials for Access Services staff, reviewing and updating
   policies and procedures updating signage around the building, updating and
   editing brochures, stocking maps and brochures at the Circulation Desk and
   making sure they are available for orientation.
   - When needed, drive to the off-site storage location to retrieve
   library materials and to scan items for article delivery. Complete other
   tasks such as labeling, updating records, and processing holds.



*FOR THE SECOND POSITION ONLY:*

   - Drive to the off-site storage location daily to shelve and shift
   library materials and to scan items for article delivery. Complete other
   tasks such as labeling, updating records, and processing holds.
   - Work with the staff in Collection Maintenance to coordinating the
   moving and shifting of library materials from the library to Annex and
   within the Annex. Monitor the work of up to four student employees in the
   Annex. Communicate with the Facilities and Collections Coordinator about
   maintenance on the vehicle.

*Minimum Qualifications*



   - 2 years of current library experience (within five years) *OR *,
   Associates degree (or equivalent 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours),
   and 1 year of current experience; *OR *, An equivalent combination of
   current library experience, training and/or education in related fields;
   *AND *, proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications,
   e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional
   repository; content management systems.


   - Tact, diplomacy and excellent communication skills
   - Communication effectively with diverse staff and library users.
   - Familiarity with library database searching.
   - Excellent organizational skills.
   - Strong time-management skills.
   - Ability to quickly learn and interpret library specific computer
   applications.
   - Demonstrated ability to handle detailed routines efficiently and
   accurately
   - Ability to be self-motivated and willing to accept responsibility to
   perform routine tasks without close supervision.
   - Ability to coordinate the work of student employees.
   - General knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
   - Employee MUST have a valid Oregon or Washington Driver’s License.
   - Successful completion of a background check.



*Preferred Qualifications         *

   - Experience working in an Access Services Department of an
   Orbis-Cascade Alliance member library.



*Compensation*

The salary rate for this position will start at $14.43 per hour, with an
excellent benefits package, including 95% premium paid healthcare; a
generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for
employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
