Subject: [glbtrt-l] Invitation to complete survey about drag queen storytimes in public libraries

Dear Library Staff Member,

We are a group of researchers from Rutgers University, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Kentucky conducting a survey about library staff experiences with and attitudes towards drag queen storytimes.

Drag queen storytimes are a type of children's programming that is becoming increasingly common in libraries. During these events, drag queens lead storytime by reading stories, singing songs, making crafts, and engaging in other activities typically included in children's storytimes.

If you are a children's librarian or other staff member involved in children's services, you are invited to complete an online survey about your library's experience with drag queen storytimes. We are interested in hearing from library staff who have experience with this type of children's programming, as well as library staff who do not have experience with this type of children's programming.

The questionnaire will take 15-25 minutes to complete. If you agree to participate, please complete the questionnaire at: https://rutgers.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_72NdZcNxoIgEq2N

The survey is open until Monday, September 9, 2019. Once you click on the link, you have two weeks to complete the survey.

Please note that you will not receive any compensation if you take part in this research; it is purely voluntary. The survey is anonymous, unless you choose to share your contact information, and we will not use any identifying information about you while reporting the findings from this research. This study has been approved by Rutgers IRB Protocol #2019000567.

If you are not involved in children's services at your library, we would appreciate your help in forwarding this information on to the appropriate staff member(s).

We appreciate your time and value your feedback.

Sincerely,

Diana Floegel
