Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Library<https://www.ohsu.edu/library> is seeking applications from experienced health sciences librarians for the position of Health Sciences Education and Research Librarian. This role is a full-time faculty position located in Portland, Oregon.
OHSU is known for leading excellence in health care, research and education, and is the state's only academic health center. As a public organization, we provide community outreach and services for Oregon's most vulnerable populations.  We combine patient care, research, and education of the next generation of health care providers and scientists with community service to improve the health and well-being of all Oregonians.

Faculty rank and salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience; our median salary for highly experienced education and research librarians is $85,000.

Position Description:

The Health Sciences Education & Research Librarian collaborates with campus, local and regional partners to provide services to the OHSU education, research, and clinical communities and residents of the State of Oregon. Working independently and as part of a multi-functional team, this position plans, promotes, provides and evaluates education and research services to faculty, students, staff and affiliated clinicians.   This position cultivates relationships and builds partnerships with OHSU faculty and research staff in order to support the curriculum and research productivity by providing instruction in the effective searching and critical analysis of biomedical information and the use of library content and services.  The Health Sciences Education & Research Librarian will design educational programs and curriculum delivered in one-on-one consultations, group settings, and courses, and provide expert literature searches for faculty and researchers.  In addition, this position engages with OHSU faculty, students, and staff to identify needs and assess the effectiveness of library instruction and services to facilitate research and educational success. This individual works competently and sensitively with a broadly diverse constituency with regards to many facets of identity, including but not limited to gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.

As a member of the Library Faculty, the Health Sciences Education & Research Librarian participates in planning, policy formation, and decision-making relating to library services, collections, and technologies. This position requires scholarship and service that contributes to the effectiveness of the Library, the University, and the profession.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

·       Master’s degree in library and information science or equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience;

·       Minimum 3 years of professional experience in research, education, outreach, or public services in an academic, research, or hospital library setting;

·       Experience designing and delivering library instruction to adult learners;

·       Expert database searching and citation management skills;

·       Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful partnerships;

·       Strong service orientation with excellent oral, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills;

·       Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adapt to a changing environment;

·       Record of scholarship and service/leadership in professional organizations.
