Space Planning:
Reinventing Your Library Space

November 22, 2019 | Portland, Oregon

The Public Library Association is partnering with Multnomah County Library to offer Space Planning: Reinventing Your Library Space<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT04ODA5MzQ3JnA9MSZ1PTEwMTg3ODQzMTcmbGk9Njk1OTk2MTY/index.html>. Whether you're interested in rearranging existing furniture to increase circulation, making it easier for patrons to find programs, renovating, or even designing a new library, Space Planning will give you the concrete set of tools you need. This interactive workshop uses learnings from retail stores to help librarians understand how to make libraries more accessible and easier to understand for patrons. Also covered is working with architects and interior designers, signage and wayfinding.

As a participant, you will work both individually and in groups to begin applying these new skills. Throughout this day-long training, you will gain insights, best practices and tools to help you think clearly about your library’s current space and map out a plan that will improve how you use your existing space, or how you might design a new space.
