The need to personally connect with and develop relationships among others is at the heart of librarianship. Doing so increases the visibility of librarians as information and education partners, helping them to emerge as leaders on their campuses and/or in their communities. To be effective leaders, librarians can develop competencies and traits that facilitate their social-emotional connections with various constituencies and groups. Based on research, this webinar highlights the alignment of research-based skills of library leaders and public services librarians with emotional-social intelligence competencies. Additionally, it provides a framework for the development and use of these competencies, essential for librarians in any leadership role.
