Course Description
This 6-week continuing education course will explore the interactions between staff, homeless and patrons and homeless in public libraries, as experienced and witnessed by the instructor. “Humane” interactions within a public library setting can be challenging and also very rewarding. Nuances such as perception, empathy, and context will all be discussed in order to provide the student with a well-rounded knowledge base to interact with the homeless and help engage to create a more pleasant environment for all patrons and staff.
