Yes, it seems from the description in the original message below that it is for organizations to complete.

Greetings,

There doesn't seem to be a way to fill out this survey anonymously.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the survey...?

Is it supposed to be filled out by library administration?

As a BIPOC, I am very hesitant to impart my experiences with racism in libraries in such a survey.

BIPOC are often asked to bare their souls in these kinds of surveys and what they say is often held against them.

Thank you,

Max Macias

Subject: [glbtrt-l] Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Organizational Evaluation

Good morning,

Please find information on the below opportunity from Denver Public Library:

Denver Public Library (DPL) recently received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to conduct a comprehensive research/assessment project using an equity framework to better understand effective strategies to reshape its workforce so it reflects the diversity of the community.

DPL is leading the “Building a Pipeline of Community Connection” project in collaboration with Multnomah County Library, Seattle Public Library, Hennepin County Public Library, Cleveland Public Library, Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Vancouver Community Library, Camarillo Public Library, and South Carolina Governor’s School of Arts and Humanities. Ultimately, the goal of Building a Pipeline of Community Connection project is to determine practical, effective models that libraries can implement to ensure that people from populations historically underrepresented in librarianship can join and grow in the field, with a supportive, inclusive institutional culture. This work is urgently needed, as the librarianship field has failed to equitably reflect the nation’s increasing diversity and promote a truly racially inclusive institutional culture.

Right now, we are in the process of conducting a national environmental scan of urban libraries in order to determine best practices about how to create a successful, diverse workforce and inclusive workplace. We are excited to work on advancing equity & inclusion and want to do our best to ensure we have fair representation from public libraries across the nation. We aim to identify organizations that have expressed a commitment to advancing equity & inclusion and report on the lessons learned from their successes and challenges. All library types are encouraged to respond. We are asking that organizations complete this online Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Organizational Evaluation<https://bit.ly/DPLequity> by May 29th, 2020.

If you would like a physical copy of the survey please reach out to oaloziem at denverlibrary.org<mailto:oaloziem at denverlibrary.org> and one will be provided to you.

Any information collected in this survey will inform a report of findings with a menu of recommendations and immediately actionable steps that libraries can take to increase the inclusivity of their work environment. Survey results will only be shared on the aggregate or with identifiable information removed. This work’s intended outcome is that libraries will use these findings to actively implement systemic changes to promote racial equity and workforce diversity.

Thank you for your attention to this email and please feel free to share the survey with anyone who may have a library system of mention.
