Hi everyone,

Here in St. Helens, we opened our new makerspace<https://www.sthelensoregon.gov/library/page/st-helens-public-library-makerspace> last weekend (!) and are now hiring a full-time Library Technician I (Makerspace Specialist)<https://www.applicantpro.com/openings/sthelensoregon/jobs/2016252/OR-Oregon/St-Helens/Library-Technician-Makerspace-Specialist> to help us make this incredible community asset widely available to the public.

Our makerspace is about 700 square feet and includes a laser cutter, 3D printers, a Cricut, hand tools, a sewing station, and more. We're anticipating offering public programs for children, teens, and adults, as well as open labs and and appointments, and we're excited about the potential for working with our school district and OMIC<https://www.omic.us/>. We're eager to find a Library Technician who has the right mix of people skills and technical curiosity to capitalize on all the possibilities at hand.

The St. Helens Public Library is a department of the City of St. Helens and serves a community of about 13,000 people in Columbia County, 40 minutes north of Portland. Our staff is small (four full-time and four part-time people) and works well together, and we're looking forward to another team member joining us!

I'm the staff member who's led the development and opening of the makerspace, so if you have questions, please let me know. And, of course, please share this widely with anyone you think might be interested!
