Agencies frequently talk about planning and pursuing change. The next three CPM modules will give you skills to plan, execute, communicate and negotiate these changes. Register for any or all at http://willamette.edu/mba/programs/executive/public_management/schedule.html

Creating a living plan that can actually be used by an organization can be difficult. The April module focuses on Strategic Management - an excellent way to move from ideas to planning for success. This popular class, taught by Ed Warnock will help you learn how to set inspiring goals and learn the characteristics, tools and techniques of successful strategy implementation.

Through materials and class exercises you will learn how to define clear strategic goals and build a plan to reach them. You will also learn how to move the plan forward through strategic projects and overcome risk while preparing for the future.

This module integrates closely with Organizational Behavior and Communications, the May module, taught by Dr. Linda Crafts. Organizational Behavior and Communications explores how achieving goals such as those discussed in the April module, often requires managers to reframe situations to help themselves and others to see different perspectives. This class will help develop an organizational plan to implement the strategies identified in the April module.

June's module, Negotiating for Success, aims to provide you with the tools you need to navigate every day successfully and Willamette University College of Law professor Warren Binford is an expert in teaching those tools. Negotiating is part of our lives and a critical skill for public managers. This engaging module will have you learning and practicing negotiation skills and will include at least three simulated negotiations.
