One of the powerful and useful features of M365 is Teams Live Event.  With Teams Live Event, users in your agency/board/commission can broadcast audio, video and meeting content like PowerPoint, documents, etc., to large online audiences both inside the agency and the public. Live Event is different from Teams Meetings. Teams meetings are ideal for collaboration and allows for up to 250 attendees, chat and sharing of files.

[cid:image002.png at 01D70E6D.99A35000]Live Event is designed for situations where a limited number of people will be presenting audio and visual materials to a large group of attendees, where the primary goal is one-way distribution of information - from the presenters to the attendees at large. It is similar to the 'webinar' format, where the presentation is live, and some interaction with attendees is possible.

To attend a Live Event, attendees need a unique link to the scheduled event, but do not need to have login information.  A Live Event is more like a public presentation than a meeting, and requires some careful planning to ensure a successful event.

Microsoft is providing a training on March 3 about Live Events and how to use it. Even if your agency has not moved into the Oregon M365 Environment yet, I recommend you attend the training to learn about the features.

Live Event is not intended for all M365 users. Employees who will most likely be hosting large events (i.e.: agency all-staff meetings, public open houses, etc.) will find Live Event useful.

In order to use Live Event, you need to work with your help desk as well as complete the following recommended pre-requisites:

  *   Attend one of the upcoming training sessions.
  *   Run a test Live Event limited to attendees in the organization.
