I was struck by this weird claim-

"...we’re talking about things that frankly would not be something that
would be acceptable in a professional environment which is what the parents
expect out of the schools.”


Ummmm, huh? Like what, a critical reading of the conference phone manual or
maybe the food and drink policy? Those are generally acceptable in a
professional environment and sure to engage reluctant readers. Even if he's
trying (and not succeeding) to say that the conduct described in the book
wouldn't be allowed in a professional environment, what would that leave
anyone to read? They wouldn't even be able to enjoy theTitle IX policy.

Also does "professional environment" really represent some kind of moral
high ground or standard of learning? Which profession, exactly? Only
reading things that are appropriate for a professional environment is one
of the lamest ideas I've heard today - and there were plenty of other lame
ideas just in that article.
