Hello summer reading folks,

This is to let you know that shipping March 1st to all your libraries will be 10 items purchased by the State Library for every Oregon public library. They will be addressed to you as the summer reading contact for your library. You can see what these items are on the last three slides of this presentation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/118D_D96DqIwgTfQREI8oEJnobZhDW2ve/view?usp=sharing

The one BIG thing to know about these materials is that since these were purchased with LSTA funds, you cannot use them as prizes or incentives for participants. Otherwise, you are free to use with staff and volunteers however you wish to implement your summer reading program. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best,

Greta B

In 2020, more than 230,000 Californians signed up for summer reading. Like so many others, California libraries pivoted from traditional in-person, on-site programming to take-home activities and virtual programming. This proved quite effective, with more than 1.2 million views of libraries’ virtual programs. Additionally, California public libraries distributed more than 288,000 take-home STEAM and family engagement kits at their libraries and at community sites. Summer @ Your Library provides<https://ireadprogram.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6e70654dccbd86e15c572ad55&id=5dfcf3956e&e=c0a8f58de6> libraries with resources to create and evaluate innovative programs that keep California’s children, teens, and adults exploring, learning, reading, and connecting all summer long.

Thank you CLA and California libraries for sharing your ideas!
