Marine Board Holding Public Meeting on Proposed Slow-No-Wake Zone in Hood River

              Representatives from the Oregon State Marine Board will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, January 22 at 5 pm at the Marina Center Ballroom, 1000 E. Port Marina Drive in Hood River on a proposed boating rule near Hood River.
              The Marine Board seeks public input on a rule that would restrict boat operation within the artificial lagoon on the immediate west side of the mouth of the Hood River.  The rule would create a slow-no-wake zone within a marked area of approximately 494 feet by 155 feet.  The area is heavily used by swimmers, sail and kite boarders and personal watercraft engaged in instruction activities.  The proposed rule does not prevent commercial or recreational navigation on the Columbia River or Hood River.
