The 2008-2009 Public Libraries and the Internet survey - officially known as the 2008 National Survey of Public Library Funding and Technology Access is now underway.

The survey is funded by the American Library Association and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and is part of a larger study managed by the American Library Association. Information provided helps the Gates Foundation and ALA work nationally for policies that help libraries. More information on the overall study is available at http://www.ala.org/plinternetfunding.

Please consider participating if one of your libraries is included in the sample. Any additional library that wishes to respond is welcomed. The researchers use any additional responses as replacements for non-responding sampled libraries.

The survey is open and will be available for completion through November 7, 2008. Sample participants have already received a mailing from the researchers. The survey is available for completion online at http://www.plinternetsurvey.org.

If you are interested in all the survey data from last year, you can access the 2007-2008 survey results at http://www.ii.fsu.edu/plinternet. Contact Carla Wright with any questions at cbw8533 at fsu.edu, or 850-645-2197.

Thank you in advance for aiding this important study.

Yours,

Ann Reed
