Dear Directors,
Thank you so much for your help so far. Now it's time for the last mile on the 2009-2010 Public Library Funding & Technology Access survey. The deadline has been extended to November 14, so there is still time to provide data for this important survey of ALA, Gates Foundation, and University of Maryland. This survey provides important data regarding public library Internet connectivity, use, funding, and services. You know how important internet access is to your patrons, so help this survey draw that statistical picture.
The survey URL is at www.plinternetsurvey.org<http://www.plinternetsurvey.org>
You will need an ID number, which you may look up on the website. Questions regarding the survey should be directed to support at clii.umd.edu<http://listsmart.osl.state.or.us/mailman/listinfo/pl-directors><mailto:support at clii.umd.edu<http://listsmart.osl.state.or.us/mailman/listinfo/pl-directors>> or 301.405.9445.
Since 1994, these surveys have been used by the American Library Association, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Gates Foundation and others to inform and educate policymakers, funders, elected officials, supporters, and the media at the local, state and national levels about the issues and needs your library faces in providing public computer and Internet access services and resources. A select list of articles using this survey can be found at http://www.plinternetsurvey.org/?q=node/15.
Your participation in the survey is extremely important, and directly impacts the ability of ALA and others to advocate on behalf of public libraries and the tremendous contribution public libraries make to their communities through their public access Internet services and resources. The survey has created a range of tools you can use to advocate on the behalf of your library regarding how public libraries help job seekers, with e-government, broadband, and community access. You can find these at www.plinternetsurvey.org<http://www.plinternetsurvey.org> as well as www.ala.org/plinternetfunding<http://www.ala.org/plinternetfunding> .
