[PL-Directors] CORRECTION: Important budget questions regarding the Ready to Read Grant

There were some typos in the budget options they should be:

Option One: (almost the same as current Ready to Read Grant)
*   Applications out July 1, 2015
*   Applications due August 31, 2015
*   Grant awards announced November 1, 2015
*   OSL Board meeting and appeals in December 2015
*   Checks cut and distributed by December 31, 2015
*   Final report due December 1, 2016
*   Grant must be spent by December 31, 2016
*   OSL's Annual Report published February 1, 2017
Option Two: (completely new)
*   Applications out November 15, 2015
*   Applications due January 15, 2016
*   Grant awards announced March 15, 2016
*   OSL Board meeting and grant appeals in April 2016
*   Checks cut and distributed by May 30, 2016
*   Final report due May 1, 2017
*   Grant must be spent by May 30, 2017
*   OSL's Annual Report published July 1, 2017

Attention library directors who receive Ready to Read Grants:

The following relates to the Reimagining Ready to Read Grant project. You should have just received an email via the R2R listserv with the draft proposal and link to the survey to provide feedback on the proposal. However, there are 3 budget related questions that only you can answer.

Please take this survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GrantSurveyDirectorsOnly) to answer 3 questions related to your library budget and grant management by Tuesday, March 4th. You may need to consult with your accountant to answer these questions.

In order to facilitate a conversation with your accountant, you will need to know the survey questions in advance. They are:


There are two grant cycle options.

*   Checks cut and distributed by May 30, 2016

*   Final report due May 1, 2017

*   Grant must be spent by May 30, 2017

*   OSL's Annual Report published July 1, 2017

1.       Which grant cycle do you prefer? Answer options: Option 1 (current grant cycle) or Option 2 (new)


2.       If more libraries prefer Option 2, would your library be able to work with that grant cycle if it had to? Answer options: Yes, we can make it work. No, we wouldn't be able to participate in a grant program with this funding cycle. If no, please explain why not.


3.       Many state and federal grants require recipients to separately account for grant funds. This requirement could be met in one of two ways: 1) have a separate line in your library budget specifically for the Youth Services Grant, or 2) have a 'grants' line in your library budget for all the grants your library receives, including the Youth Services Grant.  Can your library meet this requirement? Answer options: Yes, we can make it work. No, we wouldn't be able to participate in a grant program if funds had to be accounted for separately in the library budget. If no, please explain why not.
