Dear Library Directors and Key Contracts,
Your Ready to Read Grant checks will go out in the afternoon mail today. Checks will be in the envelopes addressed to Library Directors and will have a neon green sticker on them. All of you will receive a list of grant descriptions which will include grant amounts and number of children served and a sample press release.
Please remember that the Legislature will be developing the Ready to Read Grant budget starting in February. Therefore it is especially important this year that you share how your library is using these state funds to support early learning and maintaining reading skills over the summer. These activities can help kids in your community get ready for kindergarten and keep up with school as the years go on, and they support Governor Kitzhaber's 40-40-20 goal<http://www.oregon.gov/gov/oeib/docs/nnousreport.pdf>.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Katie
PS: A big THANK YOU goes to Ferol Weyand for getting your checks in the mail so quickly and for all her help making sure you had what you needed and were able to get your applications and final reports in on time.
